The entire town, including the market area, was looted. All the food supplies were burned. In the end more than 10,000 people ran from Akot, Sudan, and the surrounding areas to seek shelter in 13 nearby villages.

“One of my favorite hymns is ‘Great is Thy Faithfulness,’” says Brian Beadle. “God has proven Himself faithful … when I’m lonely, when I’m hurting, when the work’s good or when the work’s bad. … He has shown Himself faithful.”

“I was called to missions while I was on the mission field. Before, I was doing God’s work, but I was kind of touring. While I was here, God seemed to say, ‘This is what you need to be doing with your life.’”

“We have the advantage as single people of sinking our whole being and our whole lives into the people around us.”
